Labor Day campaign ideas for Print on Demand

A day dedicated to all of the workers out there. Labor Day (also spelt Labour Day) has its origins in the labour union movement, specifically the eight-hour day movement, which advocated eight hours for work, eight hours for recreation, and eight hours for rest. Globally, many countries link it with International Workers’ Day, which takes place on 1 May. However in other countries, Labor Day may be celebrated on a different date. In the United States, it takes place on the first Monday in September. This year, it falls on September 6th. As every new event arrives, another POD opportunity opens up. Labor Day merchandise is a great way to showcase your support to the everyday working person.
Labor Day themes into your niches
Since Labor Day focuses on workers, there may already be a ton of sellers with Print on Demand campaigns targeted towards specific professions. Firefighters, construction workers, bakers and more! These are a few examples of niche audiences that we can acknowledge and appreciate on Labor Day. Instead of creating a completely new Labor Day design, incorporate Labor Day ideas into your established niche. That way, you can target your current audience with the seasonal line. This may make it easier to get sales since you will be targeting a group of people that are already fans of your previous work. And with current times being affected by the COVID-19 pandemic, it has never been a better time to thank labourers and essential workers.
If you have yet to launch a Print on Demand campaign, now would be the time to start testing out different niches. If you need some help, check out how you can use Pinterest to help you find a niche audience and sell your Print on Demand products.
Widen your audience
Labor Day is celebrated all over the globe! It is most commonly celebrated in Australia, Bangladesh, Bahamas, Canada, Iran, Jamaica, Japan, New Zealand, Singapore, Spain, Trinidad and Tobago, United States and the United Kingdom. Depending on where you live, it can be celebrated in a variety of different ways. In the US, people host parades, picnics, barbecues, fireworks displays and other social gatherings.
With so many different countries taking part in Labor Day, this makes it a great Print on Demand opportunity to scale your POD campaign to a wider audience. Start off with ads in the UK (May 1), then target the Bahamas (June 7) and then to the US (September 6). Be sure to check dates online for a list of Labor Day dates and countries. This allows your campaign to remain active all year round.
Choosing your inventory
There isn’t exactly a specific uniform or outfit needed to celebrate Labor Day so the standard T-shirt is the perfect item to include in your line. In addition to T-shirts, sellers should consider including hoodies, sweaters and other clothing in their line. While mugs and cushions are always great add-on items. It’s always a good idea to include practical everyday items like cushions and mugs since they can still be used all year round. And of course, don’t forget to add baby and children’s clothes in your line so they can join in on the fun!
Labor Day design ideas
Anything referencing appreciation towards labourers would be a good idea for a Labor Day campaign. Looking for some inspiration? Honestly, there is a never-ending supply of design ideas you could work with—as long as it’s tied to a specific niche audience. Any occupation would work. A few examples of underappreciated workers include health care workers, medical professionals, essential workers, tradespeople, first responders etc.
Hopefully, this has inspired you to revamp your last line to include a touch of Labor Day appreciation. There are still a ton of other POD holiday opportunities coming up to take advantage of. Check out our blogs on how to launch a line for Mother’s Day, St. Patrick’s Day, and Carnival.
